The Hague, June 21, 2024 How fast can things go? We traveled to IJzendoorn near Tiel for the first time on June 22, 2022, to get to know SolarDuck. During this introduction we talked about the possibilities of testing offshore conditions off the coast of Scheveningen at the Offshore Test Site, the OTS SCH. And about our ambitions to provide the OTS with an electricity cable.
The Offshore Test Site was licensed by Rijkswaterstaat to North Sea Farmers in 2018. The OTS SCH is an ideal location to test the construction and grid connection. It is extremely important for developers of renewable offshore energy to demonstrate that they can safely generate energy at sea and also guarantee returns. This applies not only to floating solar, but also to wave energy. In the near future, a number of wave energy converters will also be tested on the OTS.

Nick van Keulen (SD) contract with NSF for berth on the OTS SCH
On May 5, 2023, the contract for the future berth on the OTS was signed on the roof terrace of Campus@Sea. And on June 21, 2024, another year later, the time has come: Merganser, SolarDuck’s platform, has arrived!
Two years seems long, but everything at sea costs so much more than on land and not only in euros but also in time.
We congratulate SolarDuck on Merganser’s arrival in Scheveningen And are extremely happy with this visible expansion on the OTS Also check out the Instagram reel with more images.
Campus@Sea is a field lab in the port of Scheveningen aimed at accelerating offshore innovations for smart and sustainable multiple use of the North Sea.
Through co-creation between five important domains: energy, aquaculture, nature restoration, safety & security and sport, we accelerate the practical application of offshore innovations, especially in and around wind farms in the North Sea.
